Explore the Cape’s Beautiful Winelands

Welcome to Cape Fine Wine Tours

All  our tours are private, following customised itineraries which give our clients personal  and unique Cape winelands experiences. We visit the estates of exceptional winemakers who are frequently a long way off the beaten track.

To add value to our wineland tours we keep a close watch on the calendar of festivals, shows and markets which bring such colour and atmosphere to the Cape wine experience. Wherever possible we build those events into our wine tours, to give our visitors this extra dimension.

The Oldest Established New World Wine Region

The Western Cape province of South Africa is the oldest established New World wine region in the international wine growing industry.

And the Cape is the only wine region worldwide which has an exact date for the production of wine!

In 1659, Kommander Jan van Riebeeck of the Dutch East India Company made the following entry in his meticulously accurate journal: “Praise be to God! The Cape has produced her first wine!”.

In 1688 an injection of vinicultural expertise was made into the Cape’s nascent wine industry by the arrival of settler-farmers from the renowned wine regions of France. Huguenot farmers quickly made an impact with their accumulated expertise and energy, the fruits of which we enjoy to this day.

Overnight Wine Tours

Best trip of my life!

We went on a two day tour with John three years ago. He took us to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and we did three wineries each day on our private tour. What made this trip so amazing was the wineries and restaurants that John choose. I would never have had any idea what to choose and these were the best I’d ever been too! Amazing wine! Amazing ambiance! And probably the two best meals of my life. We choose our one dinner spot – and it wasn’t half as good. I can’t remember where we stayed, but a B&B he recommended and booked and it was amazing – with really great brunch. Every detail was taken care of – John was on time- had booked a private room for tasting with cheese paring – etc. Finally, John was probably the most pleasant tour guide we ever had. He was incredibly worldly and a great conversationalist, but also knew when to give us private space (it was our honeymoon). Can’t wait to do it again!
